As part of the construction of a so-called mono-incineration plant by RWE, WASEL has now installed the most powerful tower crane of the EC-H series from LIEBHERR. The type 1188 EC-H 40 Fibre crane, specially designed for high lifting capacities, was installed in a configuration with a hook height of 60 m and a radius of 75 m. Its performance data are impressive. Its performance data is impressive. At a radius of 24 meters, the crane can lift a full 40 tonnes. At maximum radius, the lifting capacity is still 12.9 tons. In this dimension, it is currently the largest Liebherr tower crane in Europe.
The innovative technical components, such as the new fiber hoist rope, are also impressive. “In addition to around 40 percent higher peak lifting capacities of the fiber cranes compared to steel rope variants, the fiber rope has a four times longer service life with the same use as a steel rope,” explains Michael Klein, Project Manager at WASEL Tower Cranes. At the beginning of November, the crane was assembled and put into operation at a central location on the construction site by the experienced WASEL assembly team using a 450-tonne mobile crane.
