The historical Landesbad swimming pool building at Burtscheider Markt in the German city of Aachen is undergoing an exciting conversion to be transformed into a modern space for offices and medical practices covering an impressive area of 1,604 square metres. The location of the building posed a number of challenges for the construction experts, especially due to the extremely limited space available and the uneven surface for the installation of the crane, which made a standard installation impossible.
Nonetheless, the experts were able to find a solution for converting the historical building into a contemporary and functional centre. A mobile crane was used to set up the Liebherr 81K tower crane planned to be used for the construction measures, which was lifted into its installation area between the building façades. The crane was then ballasted into place. This method enables the client and builder to make optimal use of the limited space available and thus make efficient progress with the conversion measures.
The even crane installation area was also provided with individual footings on site to guarantee a smooth conversion process that complies with maximum safety standards. This careful planning and implementation underline the commitment to quality and precision involved in this construction project.
